Seemingly taking inspiration from Jony Ive’s look, Pro-Ject has unveiled an all-white limited version of its mid-range Debut PRO turntable.
The Austrian company’s original Debut Pro was released last year as the successor to the audiophile-friendly Pro-ject Debut Carbon Evo.
Like the original, the limited edition Debut PRO boasts a precision aluminum platter along with TPE damping and height-adjustable metal feet.
Aside from the sparkling clean finish, the only significant difference in specification from the satin black original model is the pre-installed Ortofon 2M White cartridge instead of 2M Red.
In addition to pre-installing the cartridge, Pro-Ject also includes a dust cover and Pro-Ject Connect-IT E phono cable.
The limited edition Pro-Ject Debut PRO will go on sale later this month and is expected to cost £699 in the UK and €799 in Europe. The original cost $999 in the US, so we expect the same for this version.
Comment: The Debut Pro is all white in Apple’s retro style
While Pro-ject may celebrate the ’90s uprising with these limited-edition steel wheels, the finish definitely has a hint of ’00s tech chic.
The minimalist design tempts us to pair it with the ill-fated Apple iPod Hi-Fi, but let’s be honest – this turntable deserves more than a fake mess.
The original Debut Pro is the perfect kit for a stable and controlled sound, and this fresh new look is sure to earn our aesthetic approval. Bold colors are one thing for the best turntables…it is completely it’s another thing to be literally all that color and arm and everything. We’d love to have it around just tech objet d’art, but that would be a waste of musical potential.
