I have good news for you, if you’re considering buying The Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League for consoles, you’re in luck. Developers Rocksteady recently confirmed that the game is targeting 60fps on Xbox Series X and PS5.
There’s no word yet on whether we’ll see ray tracing or additional fidelity and performance modes Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. However, judging from the fact that this is a fast-paced, always-on co-op shooter, performance definitely needs to be a priority, as dropping frames and stuttering would seriously hurt the experience.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League now arriving on May 26 after being delayed from its original late 2022 release date. How confirmed in a recent FAQ on the game’s official website (opens in a new tab), the shooter will be “fully cross-platform”, so it won’t matter if you’re playing with your friends on PC or consoles. Not much has been revealed about PC gaming specs and performance yet, and those announcements will be coming closer to launch soon.
Rocksteady developers, the team behind the Batman Arkham series, have also confirmed that you will need an internet connection to play this game even in single player mode. Unfortunately, there’s also no split-screen couch co-op. This isn’t shocking news as few Xbox Series X and PS5 titles support it, but it would be prudent to let so many people enjoy the experience.
The new gameplay trailer shows exactly how Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot and King Shark will play. Unlike the previous Rocksteady trilogy of games, these villains focus not on Freeflow melee combat, but more conventional third-person shooting. Task Force X is really fast, jumping around the map and teleporting with a diverse arsenal of firearms capable of incapacitating the most famous team of superheroes ever written on paper.
As we have seen before with always online games such as Marvel’s Avengers, there will be a battle pass system, but it will be “cosmetic only” for outfits and emoticons, which is pretty standard pricing for a title like this. There will be free and premium tiers, so it’s not necessarily an incentive to spend more than your initial purchase.
I must say that this news was not the most encouraging for me. As someone who adored James Gunn Suicide Squad and Batman: Attack on Arkham animated movie starring these characters, too bad it looks like a pretty numbers-based shooter.
The requirement to be always online leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth as I have never purchased games as a service. It’s safe to say that if you like these kinds of games and you like DC comics, you can get a lot out of it. If you were last year Gotham Knights and you want more Batman fix Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League trying to fill that void.
