Now it’s less than a week before HBO Max gets its fair share max, and there is a lot of new content to look forward to. The new streaming platform will launch on May 23 with seven new Max Originals, which we’ll detail below.

Bama Rush
This new documentary about students at the University of Alabama will debut at its premiere next week. According to Diversity, Bama Rush was inspired by videos going viral on TikTok from incoming college students documenting their “rush week”.
The documentary offers a unique look at the week-long event that has become a viral social media sensation. The press release for the program states that it will also “examine the emotional complexity and the stakes of belonging in this crucial window into femininity.”
Tall maple
Canceled MTV show Tall maple it is supposed to come back when Max starts. The TV show aired for one season over ten years ago, between November 2002 and March 2003, but never returned after airing its 13th episode.
Since its debut, the series about cloned historical figures has amassed a quiet cult following, which is probably why it has a second run. Expect the familiar high school animation to reappear on your screens soon.
German genius
This show has been in the plans for some time. Warner Media Germany first revealed the show in 2021 as Greenlight – German genius and now finally appears as Max Original with a new title.
The TV show is a satirical comedy starring Kida Khodr Ramadan and Ricky Gervais who play fictionalized versions of themselves. The show follows the couple as they navigate the Gervais adaptation Accessories performance for a German audience.
Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai
Despite the original satirical comedy Gremlins released in 1984, the film still holds up today with its iconic miniature green monsters and surprisingly hardcore sense of humor.
Although the two sequels that have been released since are not as well remembered (although Gremlins 2 really has its fans), the franchise gets another installment on the new Max platform Gremlins: Secrets of Mogwai – a new animated TV series prequel to the classic.

This three-part miniseries is an all-new true crime documentary series based on the coverage of journalist and singer Michael Hall of Texas Monthly. How to cause a sex scandal follows his account of events.

SmartLess: On the way
This all-new miniseries takes you behind the scenes of the SmartLess podcast project. The podcast is hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes, but also features artists such as Matt Damon, Kevin Hart, Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman, Conan O’Brien and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
SmartLess: On the way slated to run for six episodes, it will accompany the trio on their US tour, as they travel through Boston, Brooklyn, Washington DC, Chicago, Madison, Wisconsin and Los Angeles.
